Amanda Barry Jones is a multi-disciplinary artist with a strong foundation in ceramics and nearly two decades of experience working with clay. She has been teaching ceramics since 2014 and currently leads the Art Department and Gallery at Galveston College.
Born in Beaumont, Texas, Amanda earned her Bachelor of Fine Arts in Ceramics from Lamar University. She was awarded a full-ride scholarship to attend Houston Baptist University, where she completed her Master of Fine Arts with an emphasis in Sculpture and Ceramics.
Based in Houston, Amanda maintains an active studio practice and professional exhibition record. Her work has been featured in numerous solo and group shows across Texas, including several juried exhibitions. In 2015, she won third place at the Rising Eyes of Texas exhibition at the Rockport Center for the Arts. Her artworks are held in both private and public collections, including the Dishman Art Museum.
In addition to exhibiting her own work, Amanda has curated exhibitions and completed large-scale public art projects such as the True North Boulevard Sculpture Project and the Bastrop Bird Junction Sculpture Project (in progress). Her creative practice reflects a commitment to craftsmanship, community engagement, and the expressive potential of clay.
